Key Actions:
• Host regular “Shop Local” campaigns and community markets to boost visibility.
• Streamline permitting and licensing processes to attract entrepreneurs.
• Continue engagement with Craven Community College VOLT Center to align workforce development with employer needs while providing mentorship, shared resources, and networking opportunities.
Key Actions:
• Strike a balance between preserving the home's historical integrity and integrating modern amenities that enhance comfort, functionality, and—most importantly—cost-efficiency, all without being hindered by outdated regulations.
• Improve roadways, parking, and emergency services to boost safety and accessibility.
• Implement smart city technologies to increase efficiency in waste management, water systems, and public safety.
Key Actions:
• Safe Rail Passage-I want to explore the railroad movement of hazardous materials throughout our city and the current precautions that are in place. I want to find ways to minimize vehicular traffic blockage due to long train safety checks, especially in areas that obstruct all exit and entry for emergency response services.
• Public Safety & Security-It is important to study other cities that offer large festivals and events like Mum Fest and Park concerts to establish that proper barriers are in place in crowded areas to prevent unauthorized vehicle access. We need to ensure that our sidewalks and street crossings are maintained and that we have adequate lighting throughout the high-volume areas.
• Veteran Support- With the help of local veteran organizations, I want to create a Veteran Resource Center offering medical and mental health services, job placement, and social events while honoring their service and integrating their strengths into the fabric of our community.
• Animal Welfare & Protection-I plan to work with local rescues, shelters, and law enforcement to support abandoned animals while enforcing penalties that are in place. I want to address our feral cat population that is growing and affecting many of our Ward 1 neighborhoods. I have recently identified a resource that has a mobile pet spay & neuter clinic that may be used for catch, alter, and release.
• Continued Connections with Ward 1 Residents-I want to create civic engagement hubs where residents can shape policy, volunteer, and connect with local leaders.
